| Subject: Here on work permit, employer abandoned operations |

I´m here from the States on a work permit. My employer has abandoned our work here and gone back to the States, thereby making it impossible for me to meet the terms of said permit. With my education and experience in a needed field I qualify as a "skilled worker", except for the funds requirement. Also, I have a Canadian girlfriend whom I love and plan to marry one day.
I want to stay and get another job here in Alberta. What are my options?

Hello Tim,
Not in any particular order:
1. Marry you CDN gf and have her sponsor you
2. Find an employer who will be willing to get you a work permit (with LMO or under an exemption category if you qualify). If you can get the job offer and subsequently the work permit, you might be able to have your employer support and apply as FSW with Arranged Employment. You won´t need to show settlement funds in that case.
