Subject: Advice for Art Student |

Hello. I am an illustration student at a Canadian University. I´ve been living in Ontario for 4 years completing my program, and am prepared to graduate this summer. My girlfriend of 2 years and I are engaged, and I would really like to stay here. All of my friends are here along with my fiance. I was wondering what the best way to stay here would be? I plan to pursue freelance illustration upon graduation, and my fiance and I do not yet live together.
Am I doomed? I wish there was an easier way for students to gain permanent visitor status or gain citizenship. I have put so much money into the Canadian economy over the past four years and they must know that students make strong connections in their time here...
Thanks for any advice!

(in reply to: Advice for Art Student) Permanent visitor status or gain citizenship?.
What is a Permanent visitor?
Try Permanent Resident and after that you may apply for citizenship.
Once you marry your fiance, you have two options:
a) Fill an inland application for Permanent Resident and your Canadian fiance (assuming so) may sponsor you.
b) Fill an outland application for Permenent and your Canadian fiance can sponsor you.
Option "B" is your best bet.
