Subject: Can I get married in US when my PR is in process? |

I applied for PR under common-law-spouse sponsership program in Jan 2010. We planned to get married just two of us in Hawaii due to my fiance´s severe presentation anxiety - he can faint. We did a casual wedding party first since my PR was still in process. A month ago I got my work permit extention as a result of 1st step evaluation. I am still not allowed to leave Canada because there´s a possibility that the whole PR process can be canceled.
Because of this situation I can´t get pregnant (I´m 28 yrs old) or enroll an university. CIC call centre agent said I can go out if it´s an urgent matter such as relative´s funeral, but I was wondering if there´s any chance we can go to Hawaii?? If I can, should I bring the letter of no objection from my country of origin-Korea?

(in reply to: Can I get married in US when my PR is in process?) It sounds like your PR application is being processed inland.
Assuming that´s correct - it´s very strongly recommended that you not leave the country until the processing has been completed and you have PR status. Having finished stage 1 processing does not guarantee that you will be allowed back into Canada if you leave. And if you cannot re-enter Canada, then your PR application will be canceled.
In the end it´s really up to you. However you should keep in mind that there´s no guarantee that you will be allowed back into Canada if you decide to leave.
