Subject: Inland Sponsorship - Roy or someone knowledgable
After almost 3 years of waiting on first stage approval of our inland sponsorship, we´ve received a letter saying i´ve met the requirements to sponsor, and my spouse received a letter saying he meets the eligibility requirements from our local office. We now have medical, security checks etc to complete again. In the letter he received it states:

"when a review of your file information indicates that you have met all statutory requirements of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act; you will receive a letter asking you to attend an interview at a Canada Immigration Center in your area. A final determination ony our application for permanent residence will be made at this interview. While it depends on your individual circumstances - typically, this occrus about one to three months after the date your application was approved in principal (see paragraph 2 of this letter). If you do not attend this interview, it could be interpreted as a lock of interest in permanent residence and your application could be refused".

If this common form letter? and what will the interview be about? Is it referring to a landing interview?

no, it is not a landing interview, it is a determination interview. Shocking that it took 3 years for 1st stage. Inland, obviously. Was there extenuating circumstances in your submission?

Interview will be to determine the validity of the relationship. Landing interview is pretty much formality.

Wouldn´t an interview for validity of relationship occur prior to security and background checks?

Your approved stage one read the manuals and if you have moved in 3 years they don´t know where you are.

Now do you have a valid work permit and a provincial health card?

If you have ben renewing your work permit each year you´re still in status but should communicate to someone at the Local Office.

We had one client approved H&C for two and a half years. It took one day to get a response then two days after that he was scheduled to sign his Landing Record.

We´ve moved, and yes they know where we are, because my spouse is required to report to the local office (refugee claim). He has a valid work permit, and has had one since he arrived in this country. We are in the process of reapplying for one under the sponsorship, as there are no restrictions in regards to education as there are with his current permit.

The local office currently has the spousal application, and I spoke with someone there by phone a few weeks prior to receiving stage 1 approval.
