Subject: Work Permit

How do I go about applying for a work permit while my application for immigration is in process? I applied as skilled worker within Canada. My interview has been waived and will now do the medicals. Does this mean that my application has been approved in principle? Can I now apply for wrok permit? Do I need a job offer?
