Subject: Huntingtons disease - Immigration possible? Help!

Hi, I have a confirmed job offer in Canada (a transfer from the UK employer to Canadian employer same company) I have the genetic marker for Huntingtons disease but as yet no onset or symtons. My family history is of late onset late 60`s seems to be the family trend.
I wondered if I would be able to get a work permit or landed status as no one seems to be able to help or advise. Is a straight forward no?
I am a 44 yr old graduate with a healthy son ( no HD tested ok) and a 45 yr old husband ( also professional)who is in good health. We are solvent and have a pension that would pay $35,000 per annum from 55 yrs - we are working to increase this amount. Not sure if money would be an issue but it may help.
Can someone advise please? It it hopeless and we should forget about it?

Your health status will not affect your application. If you obtain PR status you can have socialized health care after 3 months of residency.

Immigration posible with Huntingtons marker? (in reply to: Huntingtons disease - Immigration possible? Help!)
Thanks for your reply Rita. Are you sure health status won´t affect our application? Our understanding was that any person with a potential health issue is not admitted if it could cause undue demands on the health care system.
The Canadian Huntintons Association have been very vague and not very forthcoming with guidance.
I did email Roy but I think even he can´t help as its such an awkward qustion.
Our biggest fear is selling up our house, my husband leaving his job and taking our son out of school only to fail on medical grounds after being in Canada on a work for over a year, and then having to return to the UK and start again.
We would appreciate any feedback from anyone regarding this issue - is it possible to get landed status with Huntingtons disease - specifically with the strand that seems to have milder symtoms and onset at 65 years plus?

Care to comment further Rita -your views are appreciated as would anybodys elses! HELP!

Well at this time of year when I get about twenty calls a day from people who never retained me to assist them with writing an invitation letter for their loved ones who have now been refused I might have time to answer some posts.

Missed this one, totally.

First do not worry about a medical for a work permit.

If I knew what Huntington´s Disease actually is I would answer in more detail.

Try to get a work permit for a specific employer in Alberta and you automatically get assessed a Provincial Health Card then you can apply under their PNP process if spponsored by your new employer.

Either way pay the approximate fee of $140.00 CA for a DMP to assess your situation without submitting an application and he/she will tell you if your medically admissable for FSW up front but that would depend on your actual occupation.

Cheapest and most sure fire way of understanding your medical situation.
