That depends 100% on the person and situation.
I think we would need to know alot more to give any good information.

If you are in some process/application right now and leave you will lose your implied status the second you leave Canada.
If you are from a visa requiring country then you will require a valid visa to return to Canada (the airline will not let you on without one).

If you are not from a visa requiring country and you are on a work.study permit then yes you can vacation and come back.
Of couse being a non Canadian citizen or Canadian Permanent Resident you have bno "RIGHT OF ENTRY" and any time you try to re enter Canada there is always the possibilty (if you are inadmissable) that you may not be allowed back in.

Hope that helped.

JP

Re-entry with work holiday visa (in reply to: RE-ENTRY VISA)
I am in victoria at the moment and planning to go back to the US for 3 weeks this tuesday. I have applied for a work holiday visa but have only a work permit in my passport and a stamp. I have read that re-entry with a work holiday visa is possible but am not sure that the stamp gives me that priveledge. On the work permit it says this document does not authorize re-entry. So i´m confused. And do not know if i need to apply for a tourist visa or who to contact to obtain this information. Please help

re-entry visa (in reply to: RE-ENTRY VISA)
I have had my permanent residence status since 1974 and currently have an expired permanent residence card. My family and I were hoping to travel to Florida (by air) over Christmas and I will not have time to receive back a reissued Permanent Residence card. Will the temporary Visa that I submit to the US immigration get me back into Canada? Do I have other options?

No idea why so many people posted different questions on this one question thread.
But for JOSINE.
If you still have a valid work permit, then you may be allowed back into Canada and you do not need to apply for a visa (if you require one).
I say may, because that is how the law is written, unless you are one of the people who have a RIGHT to enter then you MAY be PERMITTED to enter.
