Subject: Break up!
I have a question cause I´m kinda lost!

Me and my girl broke up after a 2 and a half year relationship.. I came from Holland and she lived already in Canada. we both had a solid plan. We become Family and she would sponsor me for Canadian Citizenship. last year we became engaged and everything went well.

My first visit to Canada was for ten days. Then I returned back to Holland. 2 weeks later I returned for 6 months to Canada to actually live with her. after the 6 months I returned back to Holland for 4 weeks to sell my house and some personal belongings. She came to Holland to help me out. And together we returned back to Canada for good. We were living in Barrie.

I knew I could stay again for 6 months.. but the 6 months were over and we were both waiting for the sponsorship..(she still had to sponsor me) But she had no fulltime job.. due the circumstances (relation problems)we ended the relationship and I need a place to stay. A friend of mine offered me a place to stay in Mississauga..

Going back to Holland is no option! I would like to go to Mississauga.. my question is, what are the chances of becoming a Canadian and live here for a long time? I need someone that sponsor em for Canadian Citizenship... solutions?

you must apply as a skilled worker from outside Canada or find a job offer and get a work permit (very hard to do and still must be done from outside Canada)

No such thing as sponsor for Canadian Citizen ship outside of family class.

Going back to Holland may not be an option for you, but staying in Canada under your current status is not an option either.

Funny that your name Forum Name is Sharon... Sharon is aswell the name of my ex-girlfriend..

I guess it will be very hard to become a Canadian then.. I will wait for a few more responses. If I don´t come up with any solutions then back to Holland.

Here comes a crazy thought. If I find myself another woman in the next year. And that woman wants me to stay and sponsor me. (Family class)Is that an option? And does the days that I already was here in Canada counts? (I´ve been here in Canada now for 2 and a half year)

Worry about permanent residency before you start thinking about citizenship.

I have been now on a few Canadian Forums and mostly everyone is saying the same ´become a permanent resident´

That´s a whole proces and I´m very new in that.. what is the best way to start....

Permanent Residency is the first step. Citizenship is elective and must be applied for after your PR status is confirmed and maintained.

If you´re under 30 years and have a dutch citizenship you´re eligible for a work&travel visa which provides you a 12-months work permit for Canada. You get further information through the Canadian Embassy in Berlin (processes Germans and Dutchmen). During this time you might be able to find long-term emplyoment that qualifies for a PR application.

I´m 42 next year Feb. 43.

Some people warn me that it´s better to go back to Holland, cause I stayed longer then 6 months!

If I have papers to fill in or I need a talk with a higher person they have to know my information.. and they wont be pleased that I have overdid the 6 months...

my chances of doing Permanent Recidency is getting smaller!

<<< Some people warn me that itīs better to go back to Holland, cause I stayed longer then 6 months! >>>

You need to look into your passport - you do not get per se a visa for 6 months (sometimes it´s based on your return flight)! if your visa has already expired you urgently need to either get an extension or need to leave the country otherwise your stay is illegal. This might be considered as a serious crime and could lead into a ban and/or deportation!!! This is not funny at all...
