Subject: Sponspor my spouse
  Hi there,

I am a Canadian citizen by birth, whereas my husband lives in Pakistan, we have two kids together as well who both are born canadian citizens, we have been married for 5 years now, I have been travelling back and forth to Pakistan and Canada since these5 years.

My husband has finally agreed to come live with us in Canada now, but I am retunring back to Pakistan soon, my question is

1. Can I sponsor my husband while I am living in Pakistan

2. I have been unemployed for past 5 years but have never drawn any social assistance from the Govt since my husband has a stable job in Pakistan, and have paid for us for past 5 years, so does my unemployment have any adverse effects on the case??

I tried reseraching on CIC website and it says I have to fill a form where it says I will be responsible for his stay n wellbeing in canada financial wise, BUT i am unemployed??, thou my parents can co-sponsor financewise....

Please clear few of my confusions so that we may take this immigration step.... Thanks Rabia

Question 1 - yes as long as you can show CIC that you have every intention of coming back to Canada.

2. You will need to check further on this one because family class sponsorhip (spousal) does not require a minimum income but you have to show how you will be supporting your family. Parents cannot -co sponsor in a spousal application. You are responsible for him for 3 years.

3. A small word of caution. If he has been reluctant to come here, you better be prepared for a very tough adjustment period. As you know, Canada life is very different than Pakistan and the adjustment has destroyed more than one marriage. Make sure you are both clear about the road in front of you.

Thankyou Sharon and Nisha, well as far as supporting him is concerned I can furnish a bank statement which I am pretty sure will suffice the immigration officer. About him being reluctant all these years is becuase Job oppertunity that he had and still has in Pakistan is much better than what he will be doing here.

And this time he was the one one raised the issue to "lets goto canada" :) since he think our kids will grow up in a better envoirment health and safety wise, but YES we still have to ponder on how will be manage our finances once we do move here.

But again thank you very much for your input :)

Amir - you´re charging $2,550 for FSW application? for what???
If someone is not able to fill in forms correctly and can´t apply for him-/herself, he/she should strongly re-consider immigrating to Canada...

Anon,

Many of my clients are able to do it on their own but they don´t want to. They rather hand the responsibility to a pro instead of spending time online getting advices for anonymous users. Are you that dumb? you think every professional immigrating to Canada is going to try and figure everything on their own just so they can save $2500-3000? I have clients who are doctors and architects who really want to move to Canada. Some guy making CAD$150-200K a year is going to spend hours reading CIC website and manuals? Buddy not everyone coming to Canada is a broke bogus refugee claimant without a dime to their name...

@Amir: I guess some of these docs would have been happy if they had done it themselves - including the research upfront. Because then they would have figured out that their degrees wouldnt be accepted in Canada and they have wouldnt work now for minimum wage at TH or driving taxis before going back to their home countries...

Dont get me wrong - there´s nothing woring getting professional advise. but let´s face it: these quotes are a rip off...

BTW: If you abuse this forum for free advertising be more professional!

Anon,

The doctors I am dealing with will not drive taxis here..have no worries (:

Rip off? well what would be the right price for my time and effort? And how do you know? Are you an industry insider? Do you know how I handle my files and treat my clients?

Some people offer immigration services for $500. Is that the right price? It tells me nothing about the quality of their service. When I took my immigration law practitioner class at Seneca there were a bunch of dummies in the class. If one of them dummies is offering immigration services for $500 it has no bearing on me.

How in the world is paying CAD$2,550 is a rip off?

Buddy I am not a ghost consultant from India or Pakistan.
I do a great job for my clients. I am always available. Always on the ball. Scan and send them documents almost immediately after I get them.

It is better to pay even $2550 than to come to this forum and tell the world that you need some immigration advice about a problem you could have avoided in the first place.

It is not all about the money. If you are a broke dumb ass then yes, it is all about the money for you. You will hit every bump in the road and then you will come to this forum and ask about dodging deportation orders. Now that I have an office in midtown Toronto I get to see that crowd more and more.If you are a skilled worker with some money and little time to spend on figuring out the process you are OK with paying someone who is experienced with this paperwork to guide you through.

You said absolutely nothing of substance. I am not looking to do volume and to handle cases for $500. You pay a reasonable fee you will get a normal professional to do your file. You will pay peanuts you will get a host of monkeys bidding to represent your file.
