Subject: Welcome to Canada.... The land of labourers.
  Hi ,
I found this topic in another foroum. I have landed couple of months ago and have no idea how correst this statement is,hope it is not true. Just want to share with you and see what is your idea:

**********************************************************
Canada is right place for people who can work as "General labours"
I always see this type of positions published on websites and news
papers and most of the requirements are "GENERAL LABOUR´.

I know there will be lots of discussion on my subject but it is fact
and it is true.

Believe me lots of people come here and upgrade and spend money in
universities and colleges and after they upgrade they ask is CANADIAN
EXP..

so finally canadian exp. is what? General labour....?

Hve you guys migrated to do these kind of menial jobs? and get pay
which hardly meet your family demands?

I do agree that some are doing good but in general it is only 20% of
immigrants get good jobs.

sorry this is not to discourage anybody but what i m trying to convey
is all the immigrants should be prepared for the worst and do menial
jobs or else they will not have enough money to sustain in this
expensive country.

To new immigrants and those who are planning to come here ...

Canada is not a path of bed of roses it has thorns also in it, you
have to remove thorns from your path by sheer determination, courage
and planning or else you will be in great FRUSTRATION....

Canada need 1 million labours

barbers: 5000
taxi drivers:3000
skilled factory labours: 200,000
semi-skilled labours: 200,000
cooks: 3000
waiters: 20000
cleaning staff: 20000
truck drivers: 50000
customer care staff: 100 000
pizza delivery, coffee shop staff: 100,000
loaders, packers: 100,000
construction labours: 50,000

and many more

Check which category you can fit in and then move to Canada. This is
true picture. Many do not realise and struck up for their life after
loosing their parents and more to loose from their own next generation.

Welcome to Canada.... The land of labourers.

any idea what the wages are for those menial labour jobs? construction workers are making $20-$50 and hour. Truck drivers can make $100,000. people who clean the hospital floors make $22 an hour. Menial labour... we also need doctors, nurses, mechanics etc. If you only want to be the president of a big corporation - don´t come.

Be optimistic; train, get a new degree, be social and keep up a network and you´d do well!!

You are coming to the best country in the world as listed by UN Dude!!

If you are raised in a society where everything is stigmatized and labeled, you ought to be careful before you make the move. On the other hand, if you have no desire to do physical labour, then bring a lot of money to Canada to keep yourself afloat while you find your place in the society. You can´t say you lost parents and stuck without future! You can always return if all else fails. You do have your homeland for backup. If you have little more than spite for your homeland too, then no one can really help you. You perhaps need to think in terms of the FINAL EXIT. try to get the best education you can and enter Canada as a Canada Research Chair! You will be at once privileged and very much respected. Truck driving is a very nice job compared to processing raw shit in the water treatment plant or working as a meat boy in Alberta! :)

Hey Ali you have been in Canada for two months. Why don´t ya enlighten people about your own PERSONAL experience, instead of cutting and pasting meaningless stats from some retarded poster.

Hi Guys,

With all due respect to your sentiments and emotions and ofcourse patriotism.
Friends Ali has raised a true question that millions of immigrants are facing today in Canada.
I have observed Canadian job market very well and I can vouch for one thing that Ali is right in pointing finger at the system.
Some of you replied get trained but for what people are already trained and talented as well what is the need for them to get retrained.
Language I can understand that one should be eloquent in it. But expertise I dont agree with even Mr PM of Canada.

One Dr friend of mine got injured and was taken to a hospital there he was surprised to see that the Dr attending him first refered a book of medicine and then prescribed the medicines.
I observed one thing that there is something fishy in the air of Canada itself.
There are hardly any IT companies operating, Telecom technology is being used of emperial times (guys u will surprise to know).
They say dignity of job is there in Canada.
Some people say come here and prove yourself. But for what people need to prove.
Why general labor jobs are easily available and not office jobs? You jusr reply to this u will know whether its a labourers paradise or world of preofessionals.

Well looking from the US, Canada can be scary.... small, few institutions of higher learning (an order of magnitude less compared to the US), and so on. Canada does not make automobiles, does not own much of any hardware or software industries, is catching up in tech areas.... but precisely because of these reasons that they reduced points for skilled workers so they can allow and build a personnel base. if you are innovative, you might find things to do... Venture capital is not easy to come by in Canada and a lot of your creative efforts that need capital may be shot faster than you would like.... but I suspect canada is looking for people who have technical skills and ingenuity and tenacity: as long as you keep getting up every time you fall down or knocked down, you have a chance to move forward... All that canada probably needs is a few thousand innovators from all thi spool to get it move forward. HARISH YOU ARE A TYPICAL THIRD WORLD MAN! Why do you think India does not own any significant software suits or operating systems? Why do you think Indians haven´t home grown any technologies in put their own schrift on machines? Why do you think Indian participation or ownership of Linux OS is nearly nill? You guys are GLORIFIED TECHNO-COOLLIES. You look for established industries and social structures. You have not enough energy, drive or innovation to create new things or structures.... This is the main reason why so many of you escape India soon after you get your education.... The coolllie is always looking to play out his servitude and India does not have large enough industrial base to absorb its own trained coollies. Your fears are a direct confrontation between two very incompatible expectations: YOU LIKE TO QUICKLY FIT INTO A COOLLIE-SERVITUDE BUT CANADA HOPES THEY ARE BRINGING IN INNOVATIVE CREATORS WHO MIGHT HELP HER POISE BETTER FOR A SPRINT INTO FUTURE. What I can say is this, and I will not ever repeat this again: Put your fears aside and treat your new aurroundings as an inscrutable maze of problems. You are educated and hence you are a problem solver.... Solve the damn problems, one (or even two) at a time. If you chicken out before you pick the shovel, you will never dig that gold out son!

I underline that. And anyone who has even basic IT skills should be able to do to research themselves without relying on others all the time. Talk about competition in the market...when 15 year old computer nerds are better equipped to do the job than many years educated....You know what the traits of potential millionaires are: Capability of hard work, creativity, problem solving skills, risk taking....and when they fail they try again. Many of them actually do start from the bottom several times before they succeed. For those who did not do their research....Canada is looking for people with transferable skills...ability to do all kind of different jobs. Like any other Western society ... the future is this. You become more like self employed, you sell your skills for short term employment contracts. If you are not ready... you will fall out.

CIC has not started to screen education for suitability - maybe it should. If it would, 75% of our IT applicants would not be accepted simply because we do not need that many IT workers. Consider your education your ticket - not your guarantee. You have proved you can learn.

Harish...until you improve your written english skills the calibre of job you want and the salary that goes with it will not happen. There is far too much competition and the requirements generally are for excellent written and verbal communication skills. Sorry...you have not demonstrated those skills in your postings.

Canada does not have the industrial infrastructure of the US. we do not need it - we are 1/10th the population. That does not mean we are without world class companies. We have lots of them and they employ people and pay good salaries.

It is all about attitude and expectations. I would welcome an answer to this question... what exactly are you expecting from Canada?

Here Here,

This is getting tiring of hearing all the rhetoric of crappy jobs and how Canada owes you a great job once you come over. Get to work and find your place...old darwin rules still apply.
