| Subject: Applying for Visitors visa PR application pending |

Hello everyone,
I am a Citizen of Canada and I got my Citizenship on September 1st, 2010.I sponsored my parents who live in Delhi, India for PR immigration in Dec 2007. The process will likely take another 3 years to complete.
I plan to apply for Parents Visitors visa however since their PR Application is pending, I am not sure what to expect.Parents have visited USA and Canada twice before in 2005 and 2007 before I filed their PR application in Dec 2007.
Could anyone advise what the usual response is in such cases.Are visitor visas always denied if their PR application is under process? Is it advisable to apply for Visitors visa at this time?
Please let me know if anyone has any experience or knowledge regarding this. Thank you in advance.

You can certainly try for the visit visa. However it will be more difficult to obtain since the PR application has been submitted and they have expressed an interest in remaining in Canada permanently. Make sure they include as much information as possible that ties them to their homeland.

Hi Jes,
If your parents have left USA and Canada, when they were visiting before, on time; then there are very much positive chances that they are going to get the visitor visa to visit you.
I would certainly recommend to apply for visitor visa. I know few people who have done this and their parent´s visitor visa has been granted though their PR is in process.
Just make sure, you apply for SINGLE ENTRY visa. Once they arrive here you will always have chance to apply for extension of that visitor visa.
For extension of visitor visa, you have to apply atleast 30 days before their visa expiration and you can apply online as well as through mail. I would recommend to send through mail as until they hear back from CIC their stay is legal in Canada and mail application is taking longer to hear back than online application for extension, which will give them few extra days with you and your family.
Check CIC website for processing time.

they have to show ties to India. Very solid reasons that they will leave Canada.
