| Subject: Re-opening Application for Immigrant?Old rule? |
I applied for an Immigrant Visa lodged January 2005. but until now i dpn´t have my visa yet. I talked to an agent, and he said I have to re-open or re-apply? Is that Possible? Or i just have to wait for my visa? 6 yrs already in waiting. Thank you so much for your replies.

Hi Nerissa,
CIC has defined 29 categories for FSW class, if you qualify for one of them then it would be a better idea to withdraw the old file and apply under new class, as it is faster than the old one.
If you dont qualify then there is only one option to wait for your file to process.

´re-open or re-apply´ would suggest the file has been closed. Did they send you a letter asking for information that you did not send? did you move?

the last letter i have received from the embassy, is asking me if am still interested. i replied YES. but it was 2009 and it it 2011 now. if am going to wait, how long it will take? thank you.

to be honest, we don´t know but it could take much longer than originally thought.
Do you qualify under the new rules? If you do... I would consider withdrawing your application and trying again. Believe it or not, it would go faster. BUT be very sure you qualify otherwise you loose your opportunity.
