Hello,
I´m a desperate wife living in Canada with a 2 years daughter. Me and my daughter are Canadian citizen. Our origin is Sri lanka. I met my husband who is also a sri lankan in london in 2008. he lived in Uk for about 8 years without any visa. When the war has ended in Sri lanka he went back to his national country. I went with my child to see him and got married. He saw his daughter for the first time when she was 10 months old. 3 months later i came back to Canada and did the sponsor application. The application was processed in july 2010. We send everything all the photos taken in london, in sri lanka, my daughters birth certificate (quebec birth certificate) we live in montreal. the visa office in colombo asked him to send the documents which shows the reasons for his asylum claim and the reasons from the uk home office for refusing his refugee claim. he send all the documents and he had an interview held on january 19 2011. He got refused because he entered Uk border in november 2001 illegally. The visa officer in colombo told him that he broke a law in london which is the same in Canada that he enter a country without a visa. so they rejected his case and now we are waiting for the refusal letter. How long will it take to get the refusal letter ? And do i have the right to appeal ? If so, do i have any chances to win the case. I don´t know what to do. It was in 2001 ten years ago, all the tamil people escaped the war like this and had refugee in foreign countries. I dont know why they will punish me, my daughter and my husband,because of something my husband did 10 years ago for his own sake. Even in london when he got caught they kept him in a hotel for a day and let him go telling him to claim refugee within 3 months.

Yes, you may appeal the officer´s decision. Whether you win the appeal of it is worth to appeal that is a different story.

.....that he broke a law in London which is the same in Canada that he enter a country without a visa....
