Subject: Document Retention
  Hi,

I would appreciate if someone could give me an info on the following matter.

My brother applied to immigrate to Canada in 2006 and received the forms to do the medical exams in spring May 2008. At that point the mother of my sister-in-law become very sick and they have decided not to continue the process, so they ended up not doing the medical exam and subsequently didn´t finalize the procedure for getting the visa.

Now they want to apply again, but I am wondering if they can have benefit at all from the fact they have been already approved in the past. How long Immigration Canada retains the papers?

Thank you for your information in advance.

B.D.

Unfortunately there´s no benefit. They will have to start from scratch and re-submit all documentation again.

Once a file is closed, everything must be done from scratch.

Thank you for your interest in Canada.
