Subject: Son and his mother borned in Canada the father US
  Hello.. Two questions only..!!

Situation:
My son and his mother are Canadian by birth. The mother and I are together. I am naturalized American.

I have been traveling to Canada every 30 days for the past 7 years, and more frequently after the birth of my son. Sometimes even twice per month. My name and signature is on the birth certificate, including my home address here in the US.

I am going to submit my application, because I waited too long to do this. And I want to be part of his life and see him grow. His mother is another story.

Questions:
Q1. Is there any advantage or help on my side when I submit the application for PR?
Q2. What is the amount of funds needed to support myself for the starting months?

Thanks in advance.

Carlos

What kind of help or advantage would you think will help your application toward Permanent Residence in Canada?

Q2. What is the amount of funds needed to support myself for the starting months?

What is your last gross income after tax in the US?

To Q1: I am referring to a speedy process.

To Q2: Amount of funds. I referring to the amount of money required to have saved in the bank or an idea. More than 3K, more than 5K or 10K. I do not know.

Thanks

Under what category are you applying? for PR?

That would determine if the settlement funds are required and also on how long the process is going to take.

I am applying for a permanent resident status. as far as Category class? not sure, just any category that will allow me to live and work like anybody else i guess.

On the immigration canada site, I found the answer for the funds needed to support myself. $11,115.00 is this for real..? That amount is for one person only.

Check it out.

If you are applying as a family member then there is no need of proof of funds as such, if you are applying as a skill worker assuming you qualify) then you need $11k plus, and so on.

The processing time and whether you need a proof of funds will depend on what category class you are applying for PR status and what office is processing your application.
