Subject: When can we go on honeymoon?
My GF who i´ve been with for over 2 years, who is in canada on a student Visa and I plan to get married this year, then apply for a outland visa. We would like to go on a honeymoon after the wedding. Would we have to wait to receive paperwork acknowledging the CIC received our application to sponsor my wife before leaving the country?

Not sure if that´s really clear or not..

Hope someone can help

J.

until she has her PR visa, there is a risk that after leaving the country, she will not be allowed back in. So, take it from there.

Oh ok thanks Sharon. But I thought that if we applied outland as opposed to inland, she would be able to leave the country. Which, from what I understood, is one of the advantages of doing outland.

Perhaps, I was wrong

you were wrong. the advantages - far faster processing times (less than half), and an option to appeal should things go sideways.

anyone with a family class sponsorship app in the works will be looked at with big doubt when attempting to enter the country. What guarantee does Canada have that they will leave if their application is denied - none, so better to keep them out than face the pain of deportation orders.

Since when does Canada hold all temporary residents hostage?

She wants to leave, just leave.

The key is why is she here in the first place? Oh yeah student which means she is fairly young.

So your going to have a wedding and since it is probably her first wedding her friends and family should be in attendance.

You appear like the typical male according to feminist is thinking only about the Honeymoon instead of the wedding.

So in whose country will the wedding take place?

Slow down and start thinking about how every little detail will look to CIC. If it appears that you or her have rushed into this relationship there will be an interview that could go very badly.

Read everything you can find on sponsoring a spouse.

She is NOT a citizen, not even a PR. So what´s all this fuss? She wants to go back for wedding, go; she wants to go back to visit her folks, go! Just make sure she has the necessary visa to re-enter. If she wants to bring you here as a dependent while she is a student, she needs a bucket load of money and you need to prove you won´t stay back or do other underhanded things. This is all pure foreigner thing. No immigration issues.
