Sorry I´ve just wrote a thread. I was wondering if someone could offer some information on sponsering your family. I´ve looked up the canadian embassy site and I find it all very confusing. I feel that this is going to be expensive and complicated. Do I need to have so much money in the bank, can my husband work when over in canada, do I have to have a job before I go over.
If there is someone on this site that could offer their wisdom, it would be much appreciated.
Jo

(in reply to: Don't have a clue) Is your husband a Canadian citizen or Permanent resident?
If he is a Canadian citizen he can sponsor you from outside of Canada. If he is a PR then he has to be in Canada during the application process and once (or if) approved then you can move to Canada with him as a Permanent Resident.

(in reply to: Don't have a clue) 1) you will need to prove you are intending to move back to Canada as part of your sponsorship approval.
2) yes, it is complicated and requires 110% of your attention.
3) spousal sponsorships do not have an income requirement.
4) husband will not likely be permitted to enter Canada until application is completed.

Children (in reply to: Don't have a clue) Keep in mind if children are involved there may be a minimum income (depending on their citizenship). Did you get your children registered as Canadian citizens?

(in reply to: Don't have a clue) No not yet. They are 8 and 11. How long would this take to get them registered.

(in reply to: Don't have a clue) As I said above, except that applies to you instead. Contact the Canadian Embassy and register your children.
I assume you were born in Canada right?

(in reply to: Don't have a clue) Thanks I will. The annoying thing is that it is all computers that you deal with when you phone. There isn´t a number where you can phone and ask for an advisor.
Thanks JO
