Subject: I was asked to leave Canada. Can i return?
  Hi,

I was recently in Canada on a work permit from the UK, I had an employer who wanted to sponsor me staying and working in Canada and we made an application to the Canadian high commission. I was being sponsored under the Live in Caregiver program and I had received my LMO however I went down to Seattle to apply for my work permit and they refused the visa application on the grounds that I did not meet the experience required to be approved under this program, so I made my way back to Canada and at the border crossing I was told that I had to leave Canada as my work permit had expired and my new application for work was denied. I told the official I was intending to apply for another visa while in Canada as I had visitor status and was not staying there illegally, however she said that she would not permit me to do that on the grounds that she thought I may be seeking permanent residency even though I had proof that I intended to leave Canada via airline if my visa was denied again. I had 7 days to leave Canada which I did, I have recently returned to the UK, my home, and making a new application to work in Canada. I want to know if what has happened will affect any future application I make to work in Canada? I did nothing illegal and I realise this will all be on my record, I want to know if there is anything I can do as I want to work in Canada again? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You

Ok, two questions:

1- Did the officer allowed your entry and allow you to stay in Canada a maximum of 7 days?

If that is the case, there is no problem. Technically you can come back any time.

2- Did the officer gave you a blue form and took a picture of you. The form is called a Volunteer departure order.

In that case, you can still come back at any time as long as you left Canada on or before 7 days.

3- Were you excluded? Usually would be a yellow form and the officer will advise you that you can´t return within a year.

I would think that either scenario 1 or 2 applies to you unless there is something that I am missing. In that case you can return once you have the proper documentation to enter Canada. Make sure when you return that you have clear evidence that you intend to leave Canada at the end of your permit.

Having a valid visa doesn´t really give the right to enter Canada.

I was given 7 days (in reply to: I was asked to leave Canada. Can i return?)
Yes I was given 7 days to leave and was told that I would be allowed to come back any time as long as I had the paperwork to prove my intentions. I just wanted to be sure of my chances they didn´t ban me for a year. Thanks for that.

You were processed as a normal entry and the officer instead of allowing you to visit to a max of 6 months just limit your stay by 7 days.

Technically you can return at any time.

How bad is Britain? I am perplexed by your drive to return to the icebox! I thought UK has a much better economy than here.

wow...
I Love canada (in reply to: I was asked to leave Canada. Can i return?)
As far as the economy goes Britain is a long way behind I can confirm that. As far as the country goes I love it I have never been in a better place and I have more friends in Canada than I do in Scotland and I have a confirmed job which is hard to get in Britain and I have a great grilfriend so the sooner I get back the better, I love the "icebox" great skiing in whistler. I wish there was such I thing as a country switch where I find a canadian who is desperate to come to britain and all we need to do is trade.
