  To All

It really depends on your personal situation. Always get a second opinion and sometimes a third opinion. Do your own homework and never make a decision whom to retain in haste.

If your situation is extremely drastic and the only solution is going to the Federal Court make sure the Law Firm you retain has plenty of litigation experience. If not consider a Consultant who focuses their business on your particular problem you may get better service for much less.

Remember that a huge Law Firm will probably not have one of the partners work on your particular case, on less you have DEEP POCKETS.

Do your home work and research the authorized advisor best for you. Ask plenty of questions and demand references. Consider price based on the type of application you feel you need assistance with. Remember you would not hire a Plumber to build a deck on your house, focus on their particular experience level with your type of application.

Look at the Law Firm’s web site many have CSIC members working for them. Ask y ourself why would a Certified Canadian Immigration Consultant (CCIC’s) work for a Law Firm when they could have their own business? Take into consideration their CSIC Membership number which is normally posted on the Law Firms web site – if it starts with a 9, 0, or a 1 that denotes the year they became certified, hence their lack of experience.

MO9---- denotes they got certified in 2009 and M1----- denotes they got certified by CSIC in 2011.

Now look at the Law Firm itself. If there is only one Lawyer and one consultant ask yourself how much supervision of your file will actually be done by the Lawyer. Look to see if the Lawyer focuses on other areas of Law. Consider this Consultant could be their spouse or relative so the supervision could be even less.

Canadian Immigration Problems cover many diverse areas of the Immigration Law. If you see a Lawyer who has no partners ask yourself why? Possibly he focuses on just one area of Immigration Law and loves what he does well.

When conducting research on whom to retain ask what his preferred area of Immigration Law is that he mainly focuses on!

Any authorized representative can only stretch themselves so thin. They cannot properly represent clients in all areas effectively because their focus cannot be centralized enough.

I try to stay within my comfort zone of H&C’s, Spousal Sponsorships or Appeals. I do what I love and love what I do! I care about kids and people who are in genuine relationships!

CIC will inform you that you can (DIY) Do It Yourself and certain applications I would be the first to agree! As long as everything goes smoothly you will save your money. If you run into delays or problems you need to ask CIC why they don’t give you the same e-mail addresses and contact details to resolve problems as they give authorized representatives. You need to see here on this forum how many well intentioned people mess up their applications because of DIY recommendations.

Many Consultants and Lawyers are ethnics themselves and can speak your own language which in theory helps them sell to you better and saves you time & funds by not requiring an interpreter. Be careful because time and time again has shown that consumers are more likely to be defrauded by their own ethnic group with whom they have trust.

Yesterday I met with a Spousal Appeal client who has not researched who to retain as well as he should. He hired Representatives in his own ethnic community.

The first Authorized Representative filled in all the forms but could not have read the questions at all which should have been obvious after looking at the forms he completed. The client put all his trust in this individual because he goes to the same temple.

He filed a Spousal Appeal with another authorized representative of his community. His spouse is pregnant back in India so he thought that this second ethnic representative should have no difficulty winning his spousal appeal.

Remember a Marriage Certificate or a pregnant wife is not sufficient evidence in itself to prove a genuine marriage based on Regulation 4. It sure should help though.

The Husband gave the second representative all kinds of photos and phone bills etc. The Representative photo copied these items and submitted them to the Immigration Appeal Division on time.

THAT IS WHERE EVERYTHING STARTED GOING WRONG!

Even though he was paid handsomely the Representative copied all their marriage and relationship photos in Black and White and the quality is so poor it is impossible to see any Bond between Husband and Wife. That evidence was useless.

All the page ones of the phone bills that list who the phone number belongs to - at which address, were omitted as well. So that evidence was all useless.

When an authorized representative wishes to speak to CIC or CBSA Officer or in front of one of the divisions of the IRB, ID or the IAD they must complete a Use of Representative form IMM 5476 and have the client and the representative sign same.

What got me pulling out what little hair I have left by its roots was the Use of Representative IMM 5476 form this Authorized Representative submitted to the Immigration Appeal Division!

On Page one where his name and ID# was to be written he left it blank. The Society he belonged to was left blank as well. At the top of the second page he did record his name, companies name and contact information but.........

He also included his name, his company name and contact information in section (C) of page to in the section CANCEL THE APPOINTMENT OF A REPRESENTATIVE!

So he was telling the IAD that he was the representative for this appeal and withdrawing at the same time.

PEOPLE!!!!!!

It is your Spouse so take the time to ensure everything is done right the first time before anything is submitted. It is your future happiness at risk. This man will probably not be present at the birth of his child because he did not take responsibility and totally trusted others.

Be careful out there! Only hire a quality, experienced representative who can provide plenty of references that you must check before spending a dime of your hard earned money.

After the Husband had made two very big mistakes hiring the wrong representatives he found my youtube channel about hiring a representative. http://www.youtube.com/user/cvimmigrationchannel#p/u/1/gIxd90FPN2k

Re: inquiry about Campbell Cohen (in reply to: Which Immigration Advisor to Hire!)
Please kindly give me the necessary information about David Cohen of Campbell Cohen. He says his firm helps immigrants to Canada. How about the different charges for the process. Is he worth trusting.

Thank you for the assistance
