Try to find out about a clients or partners file from the CIC call centre and your asked twenty questions, address, phone#, date of birth, expiration of current work permit, which application is in process, when submitted, etc. etc.
That is when your lucky enough to get through to the Call Centre after trying 12 times and waiting for at least ten minutes.
The Call Centre people will not allow you to get angry and say anything negative, they may hang up.
The Call Centre staff will say "In Canada we have privacy Laws that is why I am asking you all these questions". It does not matter that you have been the clients counsel for five years and have submitted all the appropriate use of representative forms ten times. They still go through this process of asking questions about the client instead of asking the address of the Representatives office etc.
Privacy Laws must be enforced.
Well if Privacy Laws are good for the Goose Privacy Laws have to be good for the Gander!
Yet 19 CBSA Officers can forward photos of a Refugee claimant fleeing persecution and risks to his life to all kinds of people including media outlets like CNN and they get their knuckles rapped!
Nobody gets fired??????????????
Nobody gets suspended???????????
What gets me is the comment from CBSA spokesperson!

WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES THAT MAKE? NOBODY BUT CBSA TOOK THE PHOTO IN THE FIRST PLACE!
The media got this story of the man in the mask from the actions of at least one of these 19 Officers if not more or all of them.
Would it be alright to release a photo of Prime Ministers Harper wifes suitcase with photos of the style of underpants she wears? What about photos of Harper having tea with the current leader of Libya or worse?
When any person comes to Canada to seek the protection of the Canadian government no matter what method they use, they deserve privacy!

What needs to be dealt with was this was (NINETEEN) CBSA Officers who forwarded the photos so this was something that 19 CBSA Officers considered was not PRIVATE.
Do you think they deserve something more than knuckles rapped?

wonder if CBSA staff are given certain rights in the same way police are. I know a shop keeper cannot publish or circulate a picture of a suspected shoplifter, but if the police review the file, they can issue the exact same picture.
Same issues, privacy, innocent until proven guilty etc.
I will be curious about the outcome.

CBSA got the Refugee claimant to put the mask back on after they found it and took the picture.
Then CBSA staff circulated the Picture.
The Chinese authorities arrested 8 individuals in China who assisted this individual.

What about the Foreign Minister from Libya someone had to sneak him into Tunisia and put him on a private jet to Britain.

8 People in China and Hong Kong were arrested because of what 19 CBSA Officers did in violation to their code of conduct and applicable policies.
This is a communist government that has the death penalty for 68 crimes. Sixty Eight!
Let´s say this guy is a real refugee who had friends who risked fines, incarceration and their lives to save this guy by getting him on a plane to Canada. They (obviously) went to great lengths to ensure he would make it to Canada.
Just to have (19 Canadian government officials) who are suppose to be protecting refugee seekers when they arrive safely in CANADA cause 8 people to be charged, fined, imprisoned and potentially put to death is something I can not accept!
There was NINETEEN not just one misguided individual but NINETEEN!
Heads should of rolled, not knuckles slapped.

It may be acceptable in your country for those in authority to abuse their power and break the Law but it is not acceptable to the majority in Canada.
There is no difference in Law how one gets to Canada to seek refugee protection.
With thirty thousand refugee claimants each year for the past ten years with almost 50% acceptance rate these 19 CBSA Officers new better not to release private photos that could allow the claimants country authorities to put others lives at risk.
That is 150,000 Permanent Residents that never had their personal details sent to CNN.
