Hello There
We are in the process of filing out the sponsorship forms to have my husband (he has both British and Hong Kong passport) over. He´s currently residing in UK. I am a Canadian citizen through naturalization.
On the form it asked for the exact date of my naturalization, which I have no clue how to find. My parents didn´t keep records for me. I tried to call CIC (Citizenship & Immigration) but no use as I couldn´t get through the computerized system.
Do I MUST fill the exact dd/mm/yy? I only have the year on my Citizenship certificate.
Also, should we hire a immigration lawyer for this purpose? Or we should be fine as our relationship and marriage is legit (we got married in Canada), and we have a 15 months old baby already.

Of course a person who does what I do would recommend you retain experienced, quality representation.
What you need to focus on is common sense and understand it is your obligation to prove your marriage is genuine. Please understand that there is no proof without DNA that the child is actually both of yours. A child does not prove that a relationship is genuine.
Google the Chavez vs MCI Federal court decision which clearly shows what is required to prove a genuine relationship.

Someone did not remember his son´s birthday.
Somebody does not remember the day that he became Canadian Citizen.
Does anyone remember when she got married?

It is always a difficult issue. Friend of mine also tried it and he has a lot of problems
