it will be interesting how this all plays out. I suspect our NOC ´want´ list is shared with many western countries such as Australia. Will Canada leave the quota empty if there is not 10,000 applications? I guess we will have to wait and see.

The problem with the popular occupations is that there filled to quickly and too many get left out in the cold.

Then they go looking for crooks to give them an AEO!

Then there are the illogical occupations that were never filled last time.

Crane Operators, Drillers and Blasters, Welders, Plumbers, Electricians, Cooks, etc. Why would a crane operator or other trades person in any foreign country who probably got his position partly through a family member have the education and language skills to pass 67 points?

Anyone who is in a trade or has connections in Canada would be more likely to go the PNP route with an offer of employment. Far fewer points required.

Now Jason Kenney said he was going to do more for the trades but nothing so far.

I will not talk about Psychologists, Dental Hygienists and Dental Therapists, Medical Radiation Technologists, General Practitioners and Family Physicians, etc all of which are regulated positions.

Most of these positions are self employed type positions and it is unlikely that they would get offered a position until approved by a provincial regulatory body. Bringing these FSW applicants to Canada when the position is a regulated one seems so illogical.

Sure seems like a lot of smoke and mirrors going on here from CIC. He wants to appear friendly while tough on illegals and ends up doing nothing on both parts.

Instead of decreasing the amount of FSW´s is it not more logical CIC do something about the high acceptance rate of queue jumpers making spurious refugee claims?

Bringing in far more Qualified Pre Screened Federal Skilled Workers in unregulated positions would save our cities and Provinces millions because there would be virtually no need for such humongous and costly settlement services.

I agree with all your observations. Any idea how they are making out with the pre-2008 backlog?
