I need help and advise. Here is the situation:
My dad and mom became canadian citizens when they were living together. My dad cheated on my mom and then my mom moved to U.S. and dad stayed overseas (not in Canada). They are separated for more than 10 years, but they are not legally divorced. My dad got married and has a child from his second marriage. Recently I have found out that he is applying for his second wife, the child, and also his step-daughter (who is over 21 now). I know polygamy is not allowed in Canada and Immigration does not recognize it. I need help and advise on how to stop the process. I even have the contact info of the attorney and the law firm who is doing their case. I bet they do not know the who situation. It is a family issue, not relevant to the forum here, but I really wanna stop the process. Thanks in advance!

he is going to have show a divorce certificate or lie. If he does not have the certificate, they will not approve the application. If he lies, then he will misrepresent himself and THAT is illegal.
IF he is not intending to reside in Canada, the application will not be approved either.
If the step-daughter is 22 - she will not qualify.
so... be sure you are not doing this as revenge for your mother - it rarely helps you feel better. If you have knowledge that he is misrepresenting his status... then you are more than free to report him to CIC - not the lawyer.

Thanks for the replies.
As far as we know, they are not legally divorced. The problem is that I do not know if he is going to fake the document or not. But I assume he knows that polygamy is not allowed in Canada. So, the question in my head is that how he is going to prove to the immigration.
I have heard that his attorney has suggested him to buy properties in Canada to show that he has the intention to stay in Canada.
Regarding the step-daughter: I heard he can get the visa if they show she has been students since age of 18.
P.S. I am not doing this as a revenge for my mother. I just do not think what he is doing is right.

you are right, polygamy is not allowed - either is lying or providing false documents.
Do you have any document you can provide to CIC that proves he was previously married?

I had an asshole dad myself and if I had the opportunity tht you have to shatter him I would in no time, but I have been advised to forgive him as holding grudges is not good for the soul. Anyways, If I had the chance I would accuse him to CIC and after that I would forgive him, so I don´t hold grudges anymore.

Azb, Please grow up, who says you cannot do the same mistake your father did? the flesh is very weak and temptation can come in any form, do you want to tell me that since your mother left your father she has not met or see any man? if the answer is yes, you are justify, if otherwise, please move on

IF this man is defrauding the Canadian government, don´t you think there is some moral duty to report it?

Maybe Azb is the dad himself posting as the children to get advise. He knows he will not get good advise if he pose as the father. Just wondering how he knows some of the details since they are not in contact.

First, thank you for reading the post and commenting.
Second, No, I am not the dad. I am the child. Why would my dad do such a thing?
Third, I am not doing this because of my mom. My mom left my dad after he cheated on her. She left because the laws of the country we were living does not forbade polygamy. So, my mom had no legal rights. She moved to U.S. because of me and my siblings. That´s said, I do not think it is necessary for me here to discuss and give details about my personal life. In reply to Hola who said maybe my dad does not know where my mom is he knows it VERY WELL. All I can say is that I am still in touch with my dad. I was the one who applied for renewal of his canadian passport recently. He had some documents here in the US and gave me bunch of excuses to mail him the papers. The fact that he lied to me in order to start the process makes me angry.
I posted in this forum to get legal advise. I appreciate all the advise you guys gave me, but as said before the main purpose was getting legal advise.
