Subject: Job Prospects in Canada
  Hi guys,

Would just like your point of view with regards to the hourly wage rate in Canada. I am an accountant and was a bit surprised to find that the average hourly rate for an accountant is only $26 an hour in Ontario! Isnt that a bit low? Or is it in line with the cost of living? Sorry guys i just have not been to Canada yet so i dont know how it is like, but the salary is a turn off :-(

Your input will be much appreciated.

Thanks a million;

Neekita

minimum wage is $8-10 - so what is wrong with $26? Any idea how many accountants there are out there looking for work?

Hi Sharon,
I did not mean to ask this question in a wrong way, like i said i dont know anything about canada yet so i did not even know the minimum wage is $8 to $10 and obviously i dont know how many accountants are out there looking for work.
Sorry if i put my question badly.

Wages are not that high (in reply to: Job Prospects in Canada)
wages are not very high in comparison with cost of living, but I guess that is happening all over the world nowadays.
Bad thing is that government tax you highly once you are above the poverty level, which makes you even poorer becuase it takes few months to pay back taxes.

and the flip side of all those taxes is highly subsidized (if not free) medical care, education, etc. Can´t have it both ways as our friends across the border and in Europe are quickly finding out.

Any advice? (in reply to: Job Prospects in Canada)
Now I don´t know what to do. I have been planning my return to Italy but since the whole world is experiencing an economic downturn ( Italy in Europe is doing poorly), I guess I can´t escape anymore.
Should I sit, drink, get fat eating my chicken wings or and watch hockey?

I have been to Australia (in reply to: Job Prospects in Canada)
I liked Australia, but I find it a bit isolated. However, I am kind of tired of immigrating. I think that all the places are under the same globalized shit system. However some countries are way worse than others. I am not planning to immigrate somewhere else for now, Canada has sucked up my energy already.

It is funny when you ask me to stop bitching as you are a cranky bitch yourself.
