Subject: Canadian Landed Immigrant living in U.S. with wife
I´m a U.S. citizen, my wife is a Canadian Citizen. Both of our children have dual citizenship.

I "landed" in Canada and began my permanent status on Oct 5th 2002.

My Record of Landing states it is valid until 11/20/2011.

We moved out of Canada to the U.S. June 6 2005 and have lived in the states for the last 5 years.

I know that per this page - http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/5445EA.asp that every day I spend with my wife in the U.S. as counting towards my residency requirement.

My question is - does my overall status expire on 11/20/2011 as it has been basically 10 years since my original application?

Or does my status continue to be good indefinitely?

We are planning to move back to Canada but not for another 2 years and I want to ensure that my status is still good when we re-enter Canada in our moving truck.

I haven´t been able to get through to a Canadian Immigration services person on the phone - the line says they are busy, tell you to call back later, and then hangs up on you.

Also - FYI, I did have a permanent resident card when I was living in Canada but it has expired a couple of years ago while we were living in the U.S. and you can´t apply for a new one unless you are living in Canada.
