| Subject: Marrying a Swedish |

My friend who is permanent resident,living and working in Canada,is planning to marry a Swedish national.Is it better for him to get married in Sweden and sponsor her or will it be the same process if she comes here as a visitor and start the application with in Canada after marrying her???....they would prefer to do the process while they stay together in Canada...but will this decision affect the process in any way???

I always get a laugh out of a friend of a friend asking the question when they themselves should be asking.
Why not just send your friend this link and let him ask the question.
Okay friend of a sponsor.
It is 60 days to approve him (your friend) as a sponsor aka two months.
Then CIC claims it is another 8 months to approve his bride through London Visa Post.
An outside of Canada Spousal is better for two main reasons.
It normally is faster and you can appeal if refused unlike an In-Canada Spousal application.
Plus you can have the best of both worlds if you put down her residential address as being in Sweden on her Schedule A form.
Get married either place with her family present especially if it is her first marriage. Preferably Sweden. If Sweden take family or some friends with you.
Have her medical done in Sweden and Police certificates before you get officially married.
Submit right after marriage.
Then about 7 weeks later have her visit Canada but don´t tell CBSA she is coming to remain permanently with her new husband.
PROVE THEIR GENUINENESS OF THEIR RELATIONSHIP AND DO IT WELL AND THE 8 MONTHS PROCESSING TIME MAY BE SHORTER.
CIC is cutting staff and CBSA is hiring staff. Do not trust CIC current processing times statistics.
