WOW Sharon...!
I have lots of experience .... refletcs your impecable english skills!
Please, you would wish that to speak at least 20 percent of french language wich is the second officialone in Canada.
Since you are another monolingual idiot I hope that you are up to the standards of the future world´s economy, which BTW is not in english and not in Canada.

and that is my point. I would be a total fool to believe I could move to french Canada with lousy french skills (even after taking french all through school) and expect to do the same calibre of job that I do and earn the salary I do. It simply would not happen. I had an opportunity to move overseas several years back and the realization that my language skills would mean I would be at an extreme disadvantage and was simply not worth it. In many cases, language proficiency trumps brains.

I admit my spelling and grammar in this forum is not always great. I am sometimes in a hurry, or do not proof read. Sue me.

Well (in reply to: Sharon criticizing Berg's English)
Of course that knowing the language is a must. However, this is still as an excuse to discriminate talented people as needed. Of course, there are exceptions, but in most ocasions even having an accent is used to discriminate people, even if their english is better than the one of a native speaker. Many native speakers have tons of mistakes. The fact that you were born speaking a language does not make you a master of it.

Victorelli, you live in the Vancouver area. Shame on you for even suggesting that in MOST OCCASIONS an accent is used to discriminate. Show me where!

You just blew your argument.

Well Sharon! (in reply to: Sharon criticizing Berg's English)
I must say that Vancouver is starting to change thanks GOD!
It is becoming more tolerant as more imigrants arrive. When I moved in here it was a heck- town.
I lived in Quebec as well. In that province you get yelled at if you don´t speak french with the terrible quebecoise accent.

´starting to change?? that is downright hysterical. Vancouver is likely one of the most inclusive cities in the world and you are still complaining.

Quebec... well, did you read about Quebec selection or is that how you got into Canada. Promised to uphold the french language and culture in exchange for an easier entry into Canada? What did you expect? Free English classes?
