Sharon, we all have an accent. Even you have a canadian accent.
People from East Coast have a different accent from West Coasters.
As per your data saying that some immigrants do not intend to look for work as soon as they arrive. Well I did not know that all the immigrants were so wealthy that they can afford to do that. It takes a while to find work in Canada. Employers take a while to get back to you.

Immigrants not looking for work has nothing to do with what I said. I was talking about people that land and go back to whatever in Dubai or wherever because they like the paycheque they already have but there is no permanent status offered to them in that country.

My point is that every so often you may run into a crazy that discriminates you because of your accent (non-native speaker). It does not happen all the time but ou do get that kind of people once in a while.

the problem with that statement is that a Canadian accent is different from one end of the country to another.
In my personal experience, if you can make yourself understood - accents do not matter... whether they are Scotish, Indian, American, or Newfoundland.

It is true. Like I have said before. Sometimes you run into a stupid person, but fortunately it does not happen all the time. You also run into the nice canadian people that say: what a nice accent. Where are you from?
