Subject: TRV for sibling during pregnancy?
  Hi all,

I got a question for you and maybe someone has experience with this:
I and my wife are PR´s and we´re expecting our first child. We would like to have my wife´s sister to visit us for about 2 months on a TRV to help us out as we both do not have family here in Canada.
I would assume that having a relative to come over to support us with a new born for the first weeks is a sound reason for a TRV but I heard different stories.
The question is, should we bring it up in the application (e.g. invitation letter) or should we leave it completely out? My sister-in-law would come on her own. She´d be leaving behind a child (2 years old) and a husband. They own property (apartment). She´d be taking off from her job (working professional with a quite well paid job). Any thoughts?

Thanks for your responses!

WHY WORRY (in reply to: TRV for sibling during pregnancy?)
Lobby your government so that your country of origin will become one of visa exemption countries.

"Lobby your government so that your country of origin will become one of visa exemption countries."

That´s one of the dumbest comments, I´ve heard in a while.

Anyway....
The reason for her visit can be questioned. It really will depend on her ties to her home country. She has to prove that she WILL return to her home country at the of her visit. Job stability, money, properties etc.

Focus on ther ties to her home country and the reason she has to "not" stay here illegaly. She is coming for a visit and while visiting she wants to help but saying that she is coming with the sole porpuse of helping can be understood in a different way.

Leaving her 2yr son and husband behind, doesn´t prove as much as you would think. That is an old story.

Thanks DocD. will shape the invitation letter and application package accordingly.

and yes, I agree that the lobbying suggestion is more than stupid...
