Subject: Interview - venue changed
  Hi,

Received a letter from Buffalo today that my file is being transferred to Detroit for interivew as against NY that they had told earlier. Seems NY is experiencing heavy backlogs. It said the file will be transferred in the next few "months" and that I will be intimated once the file is transferred.

Anyone who has had a similar situation?

Thanks,

KG

Hi,

Can you please post your timeline. I am also waiting for my file to be transfered to NY. I got my initial assessment in August 2004.

I read in another forum about a guy who received a similar letter a few days back. It seems NY is experiencing huge delays.

I applied in Dec 03; AOR in Jan 04; IA in July 04 which said interview is required. Any idea on the backlog in Detroit ? How long do they take to call for the interview ?

Hi,

I dont have an idea how much time it will take in Detroit but at least they seem to be more organized with respect to the interview process. The website lists the cases by file number that are waiting for interview as well as those that have been scheduled.

You can check their website:

I have been notified of interview in Detroit in October and yet to be scheduled or even get acknowledgement that my file has reached Detroit. I would say Detroit is almost in the same shape as NY.

Can you elaborate what the letter that you referred to said ? Did it say that the file will be transferred or if the file HAS been transferred to Detroit ?

If it is the latter, you may want to follow up with RPC. The Detroit website says that if the file # doesnot appear in the website 12 weeks after Buffalo transfers your file, then you have to follow up.

"applicants are directed instead to check this website regularly for notification of files actually received by us from the RPC. Applicants should allow up to 12 weeks from the date of their notification letter from the Buffalo RPC to see their file number in this list. If after 12 weeks an applicant´s file does not appear in this list, they should contact the RPC by fax to advise that this office has no record of their file transfer."
