Subject: Sponsoring my mother for Visit to Canada
  Hi,
I´m planning to invite my mother (and/or father) to visit Canada. I´m pregnant and have a toddler for which I need someone to stay at home while I´m busy with my delivery/newborn. Can anyone give me an idea about the requirements on how to apply for a visit visa for my mother so she can get here as soon as possible? I know i need my doctor´s letter but any other ideas will help. Thank you!

Prove that she has strong ties to her country of origin and she will leave at the end of her stay.

You need your doctor´s letter for what?

You can´t sponsor your mother to visit Canada. The best you can do is to send her a letter of invitation, be clear on when she is arriving, the reasons for her visit and the day she is leaving Canada.
After that, she has to apply her self for her own visitor´s visa. Go to the Canadian Embassy in charge of your mom´s country. The requirements and how to apply will be there under the "Visiting Canada" section.

For you to know, the letter of invitation plays a very small factor when an officer is reviewing the application. She still have to prove strong ties to her home country and demostrate that she has no intentions to stay permanently in Canada.
