Most folks who serve in the army are in it not for the money. Your motive is wrong and with such an attitude, you might endanger the lives of others.

Are you a Canadian citizen? You can´t join the Canadian Armed Forces unless you are a Canadian citizen. Although occasionally they will allow a Canadian Permanent Resident to join if they cannot fill a position with a Canadian citizen.

And no, that is not a high monthly salary. As SG mentioned, most people don´t join the army for the money.

Most Canadians do not live comfortably on one salary, never mind two. Life here is expensive.

as you have been told by others, the Canadian Forces is an honourable profession but you must be a citizen. It is absolutely not a high paying job.

Since when being assertive about wha you want means "having an attitude".
Andrew: Become a canadian citizen first and after you can join the army. However once you are here you may find less risky jobs than that and you can end up earning 3,000 a month if you are really willing to put a fair amount of hours working. As per 2600 a month, it all depends on what you consider comfort.
For example in the Vancouver area:
If you want to live in downtown which is the most convenient location:
Bachelor suite: 800-900 a month rent ( usually includes hear and hot water)
Monthly bus pass ( if you don´t mind riding the bus or skytrain, which is usually more convenient and less expensive than owing a car)- price ranges between 80 to 120 dollars a month. Just in rent and transportation almost a big chunck of your income is gone. Food is expensive too. Not to say entertainment : Going out for a drink and dinner not less than 100 dollars each time.
You can save by having roomates or moving to the suburbs but there are some inconveniences by doing that. I realize that most people that are not born wealthy are just getting by after paying rent, transortation, food and utilities.

There are some other trades (in reply to: what is a good monthly salary in canada)
Construction pays decent money but also you must be willing to put enough hours. Nurses also make decent money , but you ust be willing to get in debt in order to meet the education requirements and also have a passion for wiping asses. Dentist make 60 dollars an hour ( but these are professions that require years of study and thousandos of dollars to put you in debt).

Responding to yur question (in reply to: what is a good monthly salary in canada)
2663 a month is not a terrible wage in comparison with the average that people make. If you are willing to live frugaly and are not a big splurger you can make ends meet with it. You can have a roomate and maybe live in a not very central location.

Moving to Canada without a lot of money is gambling. The odds are against you. You must be very desperate Andrew.

I suspect Andrew was hoping to get a PR after serving Canadian army - similar to a US program. Maybe there is a program for that.
