Subject: proof of funds question
the cic have released a new guidelines in regards with the declaration of funds or proof of funds. i have a question regarding the proof of funds requirement in a permanent residency application, i just want to ask if properties like houses and vehicles are still included and can be used as proof of funds.

what do you mean by liquid? do i have to sell my house and vehicles in order for me to make an application? then, i am not yet sure if they will consider my application or not. what if they deny my application? what will happen to those assets that i sold? this is a big gamble that could end in a very not nice situation for me and my family. well, perhaps canada is not yet for us to take. thx.

liquid means that when the time comes, you will easily be able to sell you house and car, and bring your cash to Canada.

Don´t sell anything until you know if you have been accepted.

thank you sharon! but im still confuse with the newly published application guide. because they did not specify any assets that can be used, instead they only indicate bank statements, mutural funds and the likes which are fure liquid cash. well, sorry for having such a rediculous name like carbomb, im not a terrorist nor a muslim freedom fighter. im just a simple guy who likes to play soldier boy in computer games. he he he

Soldierboy might be less controversial.

CIC is trying to separate what you are worth from what you would bring with you to support your settlement in Canada. No point in listing a house if you have no intention of selling it.

They also want to be certain that you have not borrowed $13,000 from Uncle Leo and stuck it in the bank just long enough to qualify and then arrive in Canada with $500 and head directly for the welfare office.

I would suggest you create a net worth list and indicate where the money comes from. If they want something other than that... they will ask.
