Subject: Employment Insurance
I have submitted the application to sponsor my parents for two and half years. I still waiting for responded.

I will be laid off end of this month. I would like to know will it affect the result if I receive employment insurance (EI) during this period?

Is the income from EI consider as income? I need to make sure that I meet the minimum income cutoff for 7 persons.

yes, it is income but how can you possibly meet the requirement if you are on EI?

EI is not even enough for one person, never mind 7.

IE is taxable income.

CRA will send you T4E in the month of February.

Thank your for all the advises.

I going to receive EI for few months only. For sure I need to look for a job to sponsor 7 persons. But I found a statment from cic.gc.ca today:
only maternity, parental and sickness benefits paid under the Employment Insurance Act are considered income. Other payments such as employment insurance and federal training allowances are not considered as income.

Is is means that the money from EI not consider as income?

I need to claify this before I apply EI. Thanks!
