I applied for immigration at CIC Delhi and also got the file number in a couple of days. I gave all the documents required like IELTS score, police clearance certificates, work experience certificates etc alongwith my initial application. There is nothing more that they cud require. Wud i still be waiting for 3-4 years to get my visa ? What wud they be doing during this period on my application ? I am just curious to find out....

To be honest, i myself dont understand wat they fr so long?? but, its in their routine procedure to process the case like that. they do security , background check etc. but, wat makes them take this lot of a time, is beyond my comprehension!! the reason best know to me is that the abundance of applcations makes the process drag

There is a very good reason. There is a quota of applicants for every region of the world. The embassy in Delhi has about 5 times more applications than it can process/accept in one year. Canada takes in about 250,000 immigrants a year. There is almost 900,000 from Delhi alone. What you are doing is waiting your turn.

another reason based on my understanding and happened in most of visa office was in July 2002 and Sep 2003, immigration act has some significant changed. Local visa offices have to take time to adjust into new policy, it took for a while.

most visa offices are long through the applications from that time. I think our 4,5 year waits are pure volume issues.

Sharon is right, it is just the pure volumne of applications, for instance the processing time at Buffalo
three years back was 8 months , now it has gone upto 2 year , even getting AOR from Buffalo is taking 3 months now, which was unthinkable 3 years back....The have a set number of approvals they can issue each year , the more apporvals the bigger the Q gets

Different country or cities has different processing times. Each country has also different requirements to be provided. As in my case I applied for Canadian PR here in Sydney(Australia) and it only took 8 months to process. Good luck!
