Subject: Dependent Children Un-cooperative
I am sponsoring my husband under the Family Class status and he received his approval in principle in April of 2011. He has two children under the age of 24. The problem is, they refuse and/or are unable to cooperate. One has left home in July and no one heard about him since, (apparently this is not unheard of where he lives), there is no contact info. The other one is refusing to co-operate. She has just sent me an e-mail addressed to the consulate in the country she resides in, saying she is not interested in coming "at this time", but would like to consider coming after she finished her studies. However, she is refusing to sign the forms, get the medical and background check done, etc. I also have no relationship with the children, as they both seem to hate me for their father leaving the country, getting a divorce (I had nothing to do with that, by the way) and subsequently getting married and wanting to stay here. I am not sure if her refusal to cooperate is passive aggressiveness, or just plain ignorance (who the heck would not want a PR status practically handed over to them?) The other problem is, that both children had children on their own since the original application, and in fact, between the two of them, they had two new children born in the last eighteen months, since the original application was received by CIC. If this goes on, even if they do cooperate, I´ll have update and sign sponsorship documents every nine months! The deadline given from the overseas consulate is December 6 for the applications and supporting documents, and I am wondering what happens if the children do not comply. Their application will be refused (and I can´t say I am not relieved, who wants to be responsible for young people you never met, have no relationship with, and who apparently hate my gutts..._) but, will this affect my husband´s PR application? Is he going to be refused too, and his file closed, or will CIC go ahead with the approval process? Any info would be appreciated.

TOUGH LOVE (in reply to: Dependent Children Un-cooperative)
"Don´t you want your dad to be happy?", scolds Sir Paul.

Hello,

How are you? I know. So please sit down and relax.

However, you didn´t tell us whether or not these children are legally married or not. Even cutting them off wouldn´t solve the problem. CIC may think otherwise.

Someone needs children who would like their dad to be happy.

CASE CLOSED.
