I fail to see how its Australia´s fault! These people are Que-Jumpers. They can afford to pay smugglers thousands of dollars. They then conveniently loose all identification and then fabricate lies so they can claim asylum! Then it takes the government years and a few hundred thousand dollars per person trying to figure out what is BS and whats not.

I´m sure Canadians would get upset if they received 900 illegal asylum seekers a month via boats! Look at how upset we got over then 1 boat that landed a few years ago!

Pete

Regardless of whether they paid smugglers or not there are two hundred people including women and children drowning in violent seas and being eaten by sharks.

According to the article they were from Afghanistan and Iran two countries that produce real refugees.

I feel sorry for you NOT being unable to show compassion for some innocent child being ripped apart by a Shark or sinking under the waves not being able to be held up by her Mother.

TROLLS ahhhhhhhhhhhh

a little much drama Roy.

Nobody likes to hear or see people die, FOR ANY REASON.

I have sailed many places and being sent adrift in high seas is definitely not my cup of tea.

I see Red when I think of what happened out there when certain individuals can show no compassion.

there are horrible situations all over the world that deserve our compassion. I don´t think Canada can handle all of them by ourselves so how do we decide which crisis to respond to and which crisis to say no to?

We can make every single story dramatic - sharks, violent seas, torture, discrimination, mutilation ... that cannot be the criteria.

Mr Roy,
Lets be frank I do not think that you be sorry for any human being otherwise you would not
have chosen a blood sucking business, no way, your tears are crocodile tears, you might be sorry on behalf of your brothers in australia who have lost some business opportunities...all they dreams sank with the ship... I am not buying your sorrow Mr. Roy you can be sad only about losing money...Look into the mirrow otherwise you would not have that belly which even block your from seeing your feet..

WTF? thousands of people die every day around the world in tragic events. Just because I don´t agree with your point of view how does that make me less compassionate? Your views are always bias. If its good for the immigration consultant business then that is the way to go and your point of view right? Less refugees = less $$ for you.

Look at your own greedy self before you judge me!

When someone or a group of people die trying to reach a place with the thought of looking for a better future for themselfs and their family is a very sad thing to see. No matter what, we are talking about another human being.

I don´t agree with some people´s ways to attempt to immigrate to a place, some of them are cheaters, liers etc BUT some of them are indeed in need of protection and some of them don´t. Either way, there is a procedure to determine that and when I hear Pete saying "people die every day around the world in tragic events" still doesn´t make it right. This has nothing to do with an immigration business you genious, it has to do with the lost of (or several) human beings.

Then "ohgod" thinks that everything has to do with "the" blood sucking business. It is a human life that was lost in the attempt of looking for a better future you idiot.

If a group of people arrive to a port of entry, first thing is first. Make sure that their health is in shape, then analize each one of them on a singular basis, then make a decision who stays, who needs to be detained and who is going to be deported. I fully support the fact that the regulations in place have to be enforced otherwise is pointless to have them but I would never ever justify and give a cold shoulder to a human being that is going to.... or lost his/her live in the attempt.

If the entire ship is rescued and then every single one of them has to be deported back so be it, I will put them back on a plane myself or sign their deportation. That is between the immigration regulations and the passengers, but again, drama or not the lost of a human live on an attempt of finding a better live is indeed sad.

I don´t understand why people focus so much on "how can" we avoid these "people" into our country instead of asking what is driving these people to do this? Have you ever thought how bad can a personal situation possibly be in order to do such a thing? Once you interview a few of them and go through their documentation, some people don´t realize how scary things are...out there for some.

Time to go back to work.
