Subject: Inland sponsorship question |
Hi I´m wondering what would happen to someone who is being sponsored by their spouse through an inland sponsorship application, if they divorce after the approval in principle. But before becoming a permanent resident.

(in reply to: Inland sponsorship question) there is an obligation to inform CIC of change in status. That would ultimately cancel the application. You are caught - either have your application cancelled because you did not tell the truth about divorce or your application is cancelled because you are no longer a couple. take your pick.
remember, if you remain together for the sake of immigration, you run the risk of fraud charges and you are financially on the hook as a Canadian for the applicant for 3 years. You can also not sponsor anyone else for 3 years.
let it all go, walk away.
