Subject: Spousal Sponsorship - Picture Guideline
  Hi everyone.

I´ve been lurking for a while and learning lots. Thanks :)

I finally have my own question, so here is my first post.

Does anybody know the correct picture guidelines for spousal sponsorship and application for permanent resident card. We live in the USA at this time - although I am Canadian by birth and lived in Canada for many years. I´m helping to grow the Canadian population by bringing back my wonderful American hubby :)

Anyway, I´m unclear on the correct size of the photo and about whether or not there is supposed to be some sort of stamp from the photographer on the back of the photo. What is the photographer supposed to stamp? Someone told me the date the picture was taken. Is this true? Is there supposed to be a stamp identifying the photographer´s name/address?

Also, how many photos are needed? The medical examiner told us to bring 4 pictures with us for the medical exam paperwork. From what I can research we need to send only 2 pictures with the sponsorship paperwork. Do we need more than these 6 pictures, and if so, what for?

Lastly, can we use the same picture (duplicates) for the Sponsorship and PR application and the medical exam, or are there different requirements for the application and medical exam?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

PS - I have looked at Appendix B (7/2011), but the photographer I went to told me that he thought the size requirements have been recently changed. Have they been changed? HELP

Immigration photos

The photos must:

•measure between 25 mm and 30 mm (1” and 1 1/5”) from chin to crown;

•have a 35 mm x 45 mm (1 3/8” x 1 3/4”) finished size.

I appreciate the responses. I already saw, and in fact handed the Appendix B to the photographer, but he told me the guidelines are different now. This is what I don´t understand.

Also, I have read in other posts that pictures were rejected due to the stamp not being on the back of the picture. I honestly thought this was required for the spousal sponsorship as I was under the impression that the picture is valid for only 12 months. Without a date stamp at least, there is no way to gauge how old a picture is.

So, is there a 12 month validity requirement only for the FBI fingerprints and the medical exam, but not for the picture?

I thought that an application for a permanent resident card was part of the sponsorship package. According to this page:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/5445ETOC.asp#appendixB

...a date stamp is required.

I´m so confused.....

Another question: The Dr. told us to bring "passport-sized" pictures. Is this correct, or do we provide (for the med paperwork) the same size pics as what we´re sending with the application?

You seem to have many doubts and are not clear which path to take. Do you still believe you can DIY? If so go to www.cic.gc.ca and search operational manuals and search Overseas Processing OP2 and read till the cows come home.

The Link I gave you is correct and the forms there must also be completed. Any photos including the ones from those photo booths are fine for the medicals, no stamp required.

Not to be confused, one might get 3.5 by 4.5 immigration photo size photos with the date stamped on the back throughout the entire immigration process.

For the PR card only, the size MUST be 35mm by 45mm.
