Subject: PR apply from in Canada? |
|
|
|
Have moved to Canada [US citizen] on temporary work visa. My employer tells me that after 1yr of employment they can sponsor the application for PR and it takes 1yr usually, otherwise they said if you apply on your own it takes 2-6yrs. But it seems everyone talks about Buffalo taking 8-9 months. Can I apply to Buffalo on my own while living in Canada to make thigns happen faster [and nto wait a whole year to apply]. This would be in the skilled worker class.
thanks,
mark

(in reply to: PR apply from in Canada?) Hello Mark:
I guess you are confusing sponsorship cases with Skilled Class Permanent Residence Cases. Not all the cases from Buffalo are completing in 8-9 months. Only the sponsorship cases in spouse class.
It is up to you, if you want to go with employer or wish to apply at your own. Only thing I see in your case that your employer wants to wait for a year which is not necessary. You are required to have one year of minimum experience for PR but not necessarily in Canada. If you already have enough experience then you can apply for your immigration right away.
Take care
Cheers
