Subject: Proof of funds questions to sponsor wife
I am a canadian citizen that has been living out of the country on my savings for the last 4 years. I plan to sponsor my filipina wife and relocate to Canada once the process has been approved.

I can´t seem to find the answers on the immigration site.

How much "proof of funds do I need to show?
Can it be money in a Canadian bank account?
A foreign bank account?
Do I need to show proof having a job in Canada?

Anything else you could add would be appreciated.

proof of funds for a spouse is not required - that is why you can´t find it.

However, you must indicate that you will be able to support her. The Canadian government cannot be certain that you would use your foreign income, and could not seize it if your wife ended up on welfare so you need to show some sort of employment.

Ties to Canada... how can you prove to CIC that once sponsored, you and your wife are going back to Canada to settle. Family, job, property, schooling?

Thanks!

Once I move back to Canada I would move my money back too. When you say I would need to show some kind of employment do you you mean I would have to be in Canada working and being able to show pay slips or have a job offer prior to moving? Or have a certain amount of money in a Canadian bank?

I would say a job offer or some clear plans. The point is this - CIC does not want to start approving applicants that never intend to live in Canada just because they are living with a Canadian overseas.

Make sense? So as a Canadian, you need to provide some assurances to Canada in that regard.

Do not wait until file is approved to move back to Canada you need to show a clear intent that you will be back in Canada when they approve her file. So include evidence of your intent to return to Canada at the time of application.

Please excuse me if I sound dense but I am still a little unclear.. Am I expected to return to Canada, start a life there again (ie. job, housing, car) Without my wife and have her come down 1 -2 yrs later once the paperwork has gone through and she has been approved?

My plan was to get the process going outside of Canada (heard it was faster) and once approved, we both fly to Canada and begin the new life there. I still have a Canadian bank account and an address in Canada but do not own a home.

also receive points with my callcenter job

(financial brokerage).

2. I have some issues with my employer getting

pay stubs. Does certificate of Employment and

Work Contract is enough to show the validity

of my working experience.

3. Does the CIC will also backgound check my

tax information and social security with the

Do it like this (in reply to: Proof of funds questions to sponsor wife)
Yes, move back to Canada. You will return as a Canadian citizen (because you are one). Your wife will come with you with a visitor visa. When you´re back, you apply to sponsor her. since she´s there as a visitor, she must renew her visitor visa before the expiry date - so put the renewal application in the mail a week before it expires. Then, she has implied consent to stay until she gets notification on whether her renewal application is accepted or not. IF not (unlikely if you´re sponsoring her), she leaves. If they accept it, they´ll give a new expiry date for the visa. Repeat this every time her visitor visa is coming up on the expiry date, until approved.

To Sharon,
Why will they not give her a visitor´s visa?

Can you suggest a better way/solution?
Question: What should she do when her visitor visa is going to expire?

I am working on the same thing as well. Please help. Your help will be really appreciated. : )

A visitors visa is exactly what it says it is - VISITOR. If there is even a hint of the applicant intending on breaking the terms of the visa - AKA, staying in Canada - they will decline the visa.

The best solution is to play by the rules. Outland application with your spouse living in their home country and you be the one that does the visiting.
