| Subject: Money order info for study permit |

I applied to renew my study permit in the CIC at Buffalo, NY while staying in Montreal to continue my studies. After mailing the application package, I received a notification about a problem with the bank draft to pay the fees. Along with the bank draft I was asked to include the file number and copy of the email notification. But it was not possible to modify the information, since the envelope was already on its way to the CIC office at Buffalo. I tried to stop the package but it was not possible. My question is whether it has been the case that a payment alone has been considered as a new file, and the application will be rejected because there was no link between the open file with the money order or bank draft. I am considering canceling the bank draft today and send a new check along with the information required to associate it to the open file, could anyone comment on this option?
