Subject: Do not expect medical coverage right away
I happen to work in a place where I get asked the following question a lot: Will I have medical coverage (in Ontario) when I land?

- the answer is NO, No, No.... and it will always be no for as long as we have the mandatory 90 days waiting period to be eligible.

So many woman/husbands call saying... ´i just landed and my wife is pregnant, OHIP coverage will begin after 2 or 3 months, I don´t have the money to pay for a delivery, who can help me?

If you are ever in this situation, you need to know that you will have to be prepared to pay for the cost of the delivery and anything related to it... you need to include that expense into your budget as OHIP WILL NOT PAY FOR ANYTHING before you are eligible... there is no appealing...nothing...

Note, I am not trying to be mean, I am sure someone have said this many many times before... but I know that New Immigrants are still asking the same question

Land in Ontario well before delivery at least 3 to 4 months.

Welcome to Canada, the land where new immigrants (except refugees) are being ripped off. Enjoy!
