Subject: Applied in skilled worker category in 2004
  Hi,
My Uncle´s family have applied in the skilled worker category since 2004 from India. They were asked about updates in 2009 and after that nothing. They have been patiently waiting but are worried as their dependent child ( just a little over 21yrs at the time of application)has finished her studies ( it is 8 years since the application - how much can a dependent continue studying) and my aunt has diabetes. How will these two factors affect their application ?

oh man... let them just stay in India. What is wrong with India? It has more vibrant culture and economy; are they out to prove to their friends and neighbors that they are somehow desired /talented for the West?

1) did he get a letter from CIC asking if he wanted to withdraw his application in 2008?

2) does he qualify under the new rules?

3) diabetes may affect the medical - depending if it is under control or not.

They were asked if they wanted to apply under the new list in 2008/2009 but they wanted to continue as is.

Right now he is not under the new list.

Diabetes is under control has just been diagnosed

What abt their dependent who has stopped studying?

And will this old case ever materialise?

To be blunt, this application could take forever.

That said, to walk away and re-apply would mean the ´dependent child´ would no longer qualify and as you have mentioned... their skill is no longer on the current list.

They may wait, and fail the medical - it is a possibility that will not be determined until the medicals are taken.

That is a lot of waiting and a lot of uncertainty in my opinion. Especially when there is still a long road ahead in terms of adapting to a new country in a very difficult economy.

CIC is saying 93 months from date of application, but I would not bank on that.

I would honestly question whether Canada is going to deliver sufficient gains to their economic stability and quality of life to be living in limbo that long. India has a thriving economy. Invest that time and energy into what can be accomplished right outside their door.

that is what I would do.

Thank you Sharon for your frank opinion....they are continuing their life but still living and hoping to come here.Actually I could say dreaming! I wish and hope what you say (forever) is not true. I wish CIC would say one way or the other that way at least they will move on...
