Subject: the language challenge
For those of us who regularly post... let´s make good use of this opportunity to practice our english skills. No shorthand and full sentences. Check your spelling and read it back to yourself to make sure you post makes sense before you send. Not only will you help someone to read correctly composed english, you will give yourself extra practice for the real world in Canada.

I know. My grammer and spelling is not always the greatest. I will try harder too.

Me neither, even though live in Canada for couples of years, you know, damn it. My worst subject is English 115, English literature. I only got a C, barely pass. For English skills, I know written parts are extremely important in your daily life. What we lack is the opportunities that we can practice on that. Once I left schools, nobody will actually confront at you and pick up your grammar mistakes. This has to be done by myself.

I wanna share my own experience on learning English. I admit I learn English before came to Canada. I have quite good listening skills and reading skills, not spoken and written. Because I learn my English back home just from TVs, my homeland somehow has cable we can watch CBS and ABC. Like Sesame Street, like dramas, NYPD blue, West Wing, stuff and Late Show with David Letterman. I know, I watched lots of Yankee stuff. I think they helped me a lot before I came to Canada to have serious stuff done. Because I was young when I came to Canada and have basic knowledge about North America, I am lucky I have less culture shock than most adults.

If it??s possible, guys, spend a little time watching news do help your English. Like CBC,CTV news net, they have videos on line. Read papers if possible, I am not sure if your community library has English papers, I mean original one, like NY times, Wall street Journal, Global and Mail.

Well, good luck

Yijie, if you want to get that good job, you are going to need someone to help you with your writing skills. Anything administrative is going to be a real struggle. English lessons would be a very good investment. Perhaps your girlfriend will work with you.

For Yijie (in reply to: the language challenge)
Hey dude!! Get to the point when posting your commentaries.. We don´t need to know every single detail of your life... If you go for a job interview you have to be more direct.
