Subject: Asylum seeking in Canada
I am from one of EU countries (ex Soviet Union). For security reasons I do not want to publish it in this forum.
A few years ago I started political carrier, but in few months was blamed in bribery from dominate political party. I spend 4 months in jail and was released for security deposit.
Now our trial was started but there no evidence for the case but pressure to judge from the dominate party is very big (the information I got from my friend who is close relative to judge) and I am afraid of being jailed for many years. Prosecutor with smiling said me that he will ask 4 years of jail! All know that our prosecutor is connected with dominate party!
I have 3 covers for 250 pages each with all documents that demonstrate and prove my guiltless.
Because of our political situation I am afraid of my family and considering asking asylum in Canada.
Please advise me if I can ask asylum in Canada with this case?
If there is any chance to do that, then I would ask to advice me lawyer to whom I could send all story and known facts about our case.

The problem you face is that if you are from an EU country - then CIC will say you can easily leave your country and live elsewhere within the EU. Based on that, I don´t think you have a very strong asylum case.

That is the problem - if I will seek asylum in any EU country, then they have to send me back to my country because all EU countries have signed agreement about that.

and Canada has the same agreement.

Try Amnesty International or the UN refugee program.
