hi I´ve got a problem and I hope you can help me... Here´s the question: what´s the difference between the "permanent-resident-card" and the citizenship? I personally don´t see a difference. Or is there even a difference? I have to write a term-paper about the topic "current immigration policy in Canada" so I already have a lot of information but i don´t get this small detail :( I really hope you can help me :)

(in reply to: question to "permanent-resident-card") Yes - there´s a huge difference between permanent residence and citizenship. I just googled "difference between Canadian permanent residence and citizenship" and got tons of hits. I suggest you do the same. Google is your friend.

(in reply to: question to "permanent-resident-card") A permanent resident enjoy most of the privileges of a citizen, except a PR can not vote, a PR can be more easily deported, after his PR is revoked on account of small crimes, such as shoplifting, brawling in public or private that brings cops, drinking and driving etc... A citizen gets to enjoy every right that a native-born canadian is afforded, most petty offence leads to jailing or other correction but unless it is a serious capital crime, a citizen is fairly safe as far as revocation and deportation are concerned. And by the way, once a citizen you can travel to places as a Canadian and hence enjoy what privileges are offered to Canadians due to bilateral agreements.
