Subject: Permanent residency (applying as a refugee or TRP?
Hello I´m very desperate, I´m married to a Canadian, we have 1 daughter and another on the way, I have been here in Canada for 3 years and I have been extending my visitor status since I came here.
My husband won´t sponsor me and I don´t know what to do, I m very scared to go back to Mexico as all the crime that is in there and I think will be very risky going back with my babies.

I have been looking for info and I found that if im a temporary resident permit holder I can apply for PR but how I know if I´m a TRP holder?

Also if I separate from my husband would be a good idea apply for refugee?

I honestly don´t want to go back to Mexico, and I´m very scared, I sti have almost a year left on my extension.

Thanks in advance for your help

You are definitely not a TRP holder. TRPs are extremely difficult to get and you would know if you had applied for and received one. You have a simple TRV (temporary resident visa).

Applying as a refugee will only work if you can provide proof that you have specifically been the target of violence / threats in your home country and that your life will be in danger if you return. Again, the proof has to be very specific to you. You can´t just show the country is a dangerous place in general. To be honest, I don´t think you have any chance of succeeding with a refugee claim given you´re from Mexico. There are certainly some dangerous places in Mexico but there are many safe ones as well.

I supposed you might be able to try H&C.

Karen,if your husband won´t sponsor you, you should be asking yourself why you are having babies with him? What kind of man would not sponsor the mother of his children?

Try the H&C.
