  Hi Guyz!

I am currently in India, and had filed for my Canadian Immigration a 3 years back. Just got my Medical Checkup letter and it will be done in a few weeks. Which means, in around 6-8 months I might be able to land in Canada.

I am currently unmarried and working as a software firm for last 5 years. I have a few questions - When is it advisable for me to get married? Somebody told me that I should get married before I land in Canada, and if possible in a few months so that I can have my spouse also join me there. Once I land in Canada and then if I come to India for marriage, my spouse might not be able to join me for next 1 - 2 years. Do I need to worry about any such timing related issues. Does anybody have had any such experiences or any knowledge about these issues?

But I want to not hurry in marriage.

Please guide me. It´s an urgent request.

In my personal opinion,Immigration should not be a factor in deciding when and who you should marry. Marriage is a life time commitment (hopefully).

With regards to your concern about spousal sponsorship, it should take around 3 to 6 months in getting your spouse over here. Provided you have all the necessary documentation in place. Delays are usually caused by incompleteness of document filing. Just follow the filing instructions as noted in detail within the spousal sponsorship immigration package.

I´ve an Indian friend, who managed to get his wife here within 3 months of submission of Immigration Application.

USA Immigration will have a problem (in reply to: Urenget - Reg. Canada Immigration and Marriage)
I am not sure of canada immigration.
But if you are a greencard holder in USA. And you get married after getting greencard. It will be a problem to bring your wife to USA. Smetimes it takes 1 year to bring your wife to USA.

I agree with Will and Chidu coz Canadian immigration is in favour of family re-union especially as far as husbands and wives are concerned. Also I dont know how it affects but it is mentioned in your correpondence letters from the Candain embassy that if your marital status changes during the procees then the Visa office must be notified as it may affect your landing in Canada.
In my case I landed here with the same marital staus as the application and then later after settling down here got married to my loved one back from where I came.

Thanks

Marriage (in reply to: Urenget - Reg. Canada Immigration and Marriage)
The case.

I´m a permanent resident in Canada, and I want to marry a woman who is currently a visitor in Canada (she is here in Canada).
If I marry her right now, in Canada, What will happen? Must she leave the country? If she´s leaving, How long will it take for her to return?
