what is the process for getting police clearance?
i am in US and working on H1. what is the process to get the police clearance?

If you belong to India, please go to indian embassy and apply for PCC ( police Clearing Certificate) there must be a Fee to obtain that and it will take 4-6 weeks.

but i have been in US fr last 5 years.
so should i get the PCC from US or India?

YOu have to take a finger print at the designated institute - a police station or somthing like that...
next you send the fingerprints to FBI headquarter in West Virginia and they will do what they have to do and return the results to you.
For Indian PCC you have to go to the Indian consulate or mail them the PCC application and they will return the PCC in 4 to 6 weeks. If your passport has been issued from Indian Consulate, Embassy or a High Commission in the US they will return the PCC in may be 2-4 days period.
But you will need both the clearances... from FBI as well as from India
